Matthew Davis| Associate Director of Choral Activities

Matthew Davis is a conductor, singer, and educator based in Southern California. August of 2025 marks the beginning of his tenure as Associate Director of Choral Activities of the award winning show choir program at Los Alamitos High School. Prior to Los Alamitos, Davis served as show choir director at Glendora High School and Goddard Middle School. Under Davis's direction, Glendora High's show choir program flourished, achieving many first place wins and is now recognized as one of the top show choir programs in the region.

In addition to being a conductor and educator, Davis is a versatile performer having sung backup for notable singers such as Kathleen Battle, Barry Manilow, and Andrea Bocelli. Davis can be heard on the album “John Williams and Steven Spielberg: The Ultimate Collection” recorded with Sony Classical. He has performed under the baton of notable conductors such as John Williams, Jeffrey Kahane, Carl St. Clair, John Alexander, James Conlon, Grant Gershon, and others.

A versatile conductor, Matthew has conducted full performances of many operas, most notably Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” and “Cosi fan tutte,” with full orchestra, as well as Ravel’s “L’enfant et les sortilèges,” with a chamber orchestra. He also served as music director for Glendora High School's musical productions. In the summer of 2018, Davis was invited to participate in the Chorus America Conducting Academy as a Conducting Fellow.

Matthew's conducting mentors include Robert Istad, Christopher Peterson, Kimo Furumoto, Todd Helm, Jo-Michael Scheibe, Cristian Grases, and Don Brinegar. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Choral Music from the University of Southern California and a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from California State University, Fullerton.

Davis is an active member of the American Choral Director's Association, the National Association for Music Education, the Southern California Vocal Association, and Chorus America.

In addition to being an educator, Matthew likes to spend his time with his wife Amelia, his baby boy Simon, and his two cats Simone and Bruce. He enjoys hiking, playing video games, cooking, and traveling, and has an inexplicable obsession with Diet Coke and Chipotle.
